2007 Helix Accessory Connector

Postby Grasshopper187 » Sat Jul 15, 2017 8:46 pm

In the 2007 Helix factory service manual, there's an electrical schematic that shows an accessory electrical connector labeled OP. It's a three pin connector wired to circuit E of the dash fuse box (5A Clock/ACC). Looks like it's there to add an accessory. Has anyone used it? I want to add a dual USB/voltmeter port on the dash for my GPS and a pulsing headlight control. Both should draw well below 5A. Could it be so easy?

That 3 pin connector is for the optional Kenwood radio that came with the Helix. I have a radio hooked up to mine.

Thanks. Since I have no radio, that circuit should be available to add my accessories. All I need to do now is find it, identify the connector and get a mating connector.

This is correct. This connector is located on the left side of the scooter behind the inner box and below the maintenance cover underneath the rubber covered wire loom protector. On the Honda CH 250, it was marked with blue tape from the factory. On my 1987 Helix, it was not. Unless you have a female Honda compimentary snap plug, you'll have to cut yours and splice into it.

Red = 12 volt
Black = 12 volt switchable ignition
Green = ground

Because the Helix radio had a clock and memory for the radio station presets, the red wire kept the Honda Kenwood tuner unit energized to maintain those.
