Raising the scooter to working level for an OLD back

Postby txbiker » Fri May 25, 2018 1:20 pm

Does anyone know of a method to raise the scooter to an easier working height? I have a bike lift I used to use to work on my GL1800 and when I try to lift from centerstand position it is not stabil (all weight on rear) and I am afraid it might tip my lift over when I had scooter up at a level I can work on it easily. The cross brace on my lift does not allow me to position the lift arms on both sides of the centerstand.
Really need some ideas here otherwise it will have to go to shop for all work and I cant afford their rates and question their mechanical abilities anyway.
Thanks

The harbor freight lift raises it by the wheels. Maybe that would be more stable? It looks like it would make a nice wor table as well.

I've got mine up on a Craftsman lift, and you're right it is hind end heavy.

I place my lifting arms right in front of the centerstand bracket and carefully lift it up to height, then strap the front end down by the handlebars.

So far, it hasn't budged on me.

I had the same worries, can't bend.....My lift is a Clarke CML3 Hydraulic Lift from http://www.MachineMart.co.uk, it works well and lifts 450kg and the Helix without bother, with Helix on the lift I've given it some hammer today renewing the cvt, the lift is steady as a rock. If you've lifted a GL 1800 your lift should breeze over a much lighter Helix.

On the lift the Helix sitting on its centre stand is NOSE HEAVY, no problems have been encountered anywhere.
