Mad Max style Helix's

Postby Don Leonardo » Thu Jul 21, 2011 7:11 am

Hey, my brother is putting together the parts bike I had bought last year.

He's going to do a "Mad Max", "Rat Bike", bobber, whatever you want to call it.

I think it may help him if we can compile a group of pictures of various stripped down Helix so he can get ideas.

Here's a few pics I pulled from here.

I like both of those. I remember that Spazdav had some cooling issues after relocating the radiator. I'm not sure if he ever got the problem solved or not.

I would love to build one of these but my Helix is in too good of shape. Whenever I do a 250 mile search for sales, everyone wants $2200 or more for bikes that have too many miles on them. I've seen mint bikes going for $3500. No one near me ever seems to have a beater that they want to dump cheap.

Iowa isn't exactly a scooter Mecca.

That one from the German rally with the relocated radiator was a trailer queen so I couldn't say if he had cooling issues or not!

on my helix, the radiator was moved under the battery with the original fan.
cooling is correct. No problem.
The other visible scooter is a German.
I like the headlight, but I decided to put one approved in France
French on board
