Hello

Postby inthecheeks » Thu Aug 02, 2012 2:39 pm

I was in the market for a scooter to save some gas money. My mini van was killing me 65 dollars a week just to drive to work and back. I tried a Burgman, and a few others and then found my Helix. Only had it for about a month, and could not be happier with the mpg and the way it rides.

I bought it from a member on the forum: conroehelix

I live in Cut and Shoot, which is right outside of Conroe. I consistently get right around 70mpg, went from 65 dollars a week to a little over 12, I fill up about every 130-140 miles and I can only fit about 1.8 gallons in.

Its fun to ride too!

I look forward to participating on the forums with you guys.

Welcome. Let's see how many tanks it takes before the silly grin wears off. I think I still have mine after 2+ years.

Welcome Dustin. I just got mine this Spring. You might as well get used to everyone asking the same 3 questions.

1. What kind of gas mileage does it get?
2. How fast does it go?
3. How big is the gas tank?

On that last question, I tell everyone I have to fill up more often than I did with my car but I'm only putting in 2 gallons instead of 12 or 13. :)

"what kind of moped is that? ". :-)

I was running 70+ on the four lane yesterday and the look some guy gave me when I shot past his car was priceless!

I'd love to know what he was thinking.

Fun isn't it! :) I love passing them after crossing an intersection. We can leave most average drivers way behind duting accelaration.

Really fun, I blew away a Prius just this morning, and I get better gas mileage!

Hi Dustin:

The trick to getting more in your gas tank when you are at the pump is to pull up to the pump in the SHADE. IT'S HOT HERE IN TEXAS. Insert the pumper thingy into your tank and click the thingy that automatically shuts off when it thinks the gas tank is full. hold on ..... i'm getting there ....

Now, to be kind to your knees and hips, stand on the left side of the pumper thingy and put your left foot on the running board. With both hands dis-engage the click thingy so now you are pumping on your own VERY SLOWLY. keep going .....Our Helix is suppose to have a 3.2 tank. If you pump very slowly, on your own with both hands, and watch the gasoline flow it will seem to take FOREVER [actually just a couple of minutes}, but you will add at least another 3/4 gallon of gasoline to your gas tank.

That probably doesn't sound like much, but when the temperature is scorching, it makes more sense to me to get as much gas in the tank that takes a couple extra minutes than to constantly have to stop to add gas.

My husband rides his Ninja 500 motorcycle and me on my Helix. We have gone down to Galveston all the way from Sharpstown. I have no problem parking my Helix right next to the other bikers !!!

ENJOY YOUR NEW RIDE .

Also you can get more gas in the tank if the Helix is on the side stand instead of the center stand.

I always fill from right side, on kick stand and manually. The nozzle doesn't go into the tank far enough for me to trust the automatic fill!
