Bogg issue

Postby Joeham1982 » Tue Jun 05, 2018 4:36 pm

Hey everyone. New to the group here, I have a 94 helix which is haveing some issues. It totally happens randomly. Goes away then come back at nonspecific time.it can be from cold first start. It can be 5 mins down the road, to hours or even days before it happens again. Bike bogs like its not getting gas when I wanna giver her more.
Bike has had, new carb boots, ultrasonic carb cleaned, new plugs, tried cutting plug wire back, new gas, fuel pump is pulsating, checked over carb parts all seem fine, air filter. God knows what else. I'm stumped.

Sounds like that ultrasonic cleaner failed to clean the idle jet in the carb. You really need to buy a set of wire cleaners from Honda or on Ebay and use that real small wire with the brass handle on it to clean that slow jet.

What one is the idle jet and what one is the slow jet. ? And why would it only happen at random. ?

The idle jet and the slow jet are the same jet. It is a very small hole and it only takes a small amount of dirt or rust to clog it up. You can usually notice it on hard to start or bogging down when you roll the throttle on.

Rather than trying to clean it, I would just buy new jets. They are cheap!!

Partzilla sells them for:

35 JET, MAIN (#110) 99101-GHB-1100 $5.66

36 JET, SLOW (#38) 99103-MA1-0380 $10.26

... Which is cheaper than Honda would sell them for.

I would still take a strong flashlight to your tank and make sure it doesn't have any rust in it. Those metal tanks can rust if you don't keep them them full of fuel and park them outside in the weather before you got it.
