Anti-freeze question

Postby Brianmckewen » Fri Aug 10, 2018 11:41 am

I have Prestone anti-freeze that has ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol in it. Is this okay to use in my Helix? Also the manual says to use sealant when replacing the mechanical seal for the water pump. What should I use for this? Thank you. Brian.

Use any silicate-free anti-freeze/coolant compatible with aluminum engines. I use Prestone Extend. Do not use any water pump lubricant.

You are asking 2 questions 1st antifreeze an second mechanical seal. When replacing the mechanical seal I use Hondabond HT silicone just a little around the outside of the mechanical seal before pressing it in. Caution do not touch the sealing portion of the seal use gloves also put a small amount of dishwashing liquid on the seal.
