Helix is hard starting when cold ...

Postby myfirsthondahelix » Sat May 04, 2019 1:49 pm

When my Helix is cold (over night) it takes 30 to 40 cranks to get fuel up to the carb. Had a new carb gasket kit, needle valve put in this month, but still takes a lot of cranks to get her going, fuel pump is good, also brand new fuel filter. After it's warm, it starts on a touch of the starter button. Any ideas ??

Sounds like you bought one of those Chinese (cheap) bi-starters. Mine did the same thing till I replaced it with a Honda one.

The autobystarter is the electric choke for the Keihin CV carburetor that yor scooter has. The signs and symptoms of hard cold starts but good warm starts point to replacing it. I recommend you order this one from Honda 16046-KS4-840. It installs on the side of your carburetor. Plug and start. It costs $60.48. Stay away from the cheap chinese ones elsewhere.

Report back your results.
